The KORENA Timber Index is a public reference tool. You can read every number on it without accounts, without logging in, and — if you decline below — without anything being stored in your browser beyond what it takes to remember that you declined.
What is stored without your consent
One cookie, tpi_consent, recording your answer to the cookie prompt so we do not ask again on every page. It holds your choice, the version of this policy you were shown, and when you chose. It lasts 180 days, is readable only by this site, and contains no identifier for you. It is the only thing this site stores in your browser unless you allow analytics below.
There is no advertising, no profiling, no session recording, no fingerprinting and no third-party marketing tag anywhere on this site — whatever you choose.
What is stored only if you allow it
If you choose “Allow”, we load Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager, served from our own domain metrics.korena.eu. Until you choose “Allow”, none of it loads: no request is made to Google and no analytics cookie is written. You can confirm that yourself in your browser’s network panel.
With analytics allowed, Google Analytics sets the following:

What we measure, and why
Pageviews, plus five specific things. We measure these because they tell us what to publish next; we do not measure anything we would not act on.
- Index lookups — which species, region and product stage were selected, and whether the selection returned data. This is how we learn which parts of the market people want covered and where our data is thin.
- Clicks through to korena.eu — whether this index is useful enough to lead somewhere. The index is published by a business, and this is how that business justifies keeping it free.
- Clicks through to a source — whether the attribution is being followed, which is also what we show a source when we ask them to link back.
- API documentation views — whether developers are picking the data up.
- Methodology reads — whether people who rely on the numbers actually check how they are produced.
These are recorded against a pseudonymous browser identifier, never a name or an email address. We do not upload customer data to Google, and we do not use this data for advertising.
Changing your mind
Clear this site’s cookies in your browser and the prompt returns on your next visit. Declining afterwards stops any further analytics collection; data already collected is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
